This event is part of the EERA JP Wind & SETWind series of thematic workshops, organized to help to define the “rolling agenda” of R&I priorities in the SET-Plan Implementation Plan for Offshore Wind. These workshops are free and open in order to give the opportunity to all members of the wind community to express their opinions and give their contributions.
The focus of this specific workshop will be on Multiscale modelling and validation of wind farm wakes. It will address challenges related to investigating how wind farms influence the wind field inside and in the surroundings of the wind farm. This includes influences to the flow upwind (global blockage effect), to the sides, above, as well as wakes downwind of the wind farm.
We are particularly interested presentation that span a range of different approaches for the modelling and measurement techniques for validation. The modelling can cover different scales of interest from mesoscale modelling to microscale modelling. Measurement techniques may include in situ and remote sensing methods, based on static, floating and airborne platforms.
Another way to describe our workshop theme is the question, “how can we develop validated downscaling and upscaling model chain to calculate site wind conditions and impact of future scenarios’ vast wind energy exploitation on meteorological conditions?”
The workshop will be hosted by DTU Wind Energy at DTU Risø campus in Roskilde, Denmark and it will take place on 2nd of April 2020.
This workshop follows directly after the EERA JP Wind – Wind Power in Energy Systems workshop at the same location. So it is possible to combine your trip to attend both workshops.
