EERA Joint Programme on Wind Energy (JP Wind) is a collaboration among the 53 largest public research groups in Europe with substantial research and innovation efforts in wind energy. The aim of EERA JP Wind is to provide strategic leadership for medium to long-term research and to support the European wind energy industry and societal stakeholders.
Since 2014, EERA JP Wind has been organising yearly events in Amsterdam. This year the annual event was organized from both JP Wind as well from the SETWind project. The SETWind project is EU funded with the aim to support the implementation of the SET-Plan Implementation Plan for Offshore Wind. The project partners work closely together with the Implementation Working group that consists of country representatives, a member of ETIPWIND and a member of EERA JP Wind. A collaboration with European Commission’s Joint Research Centre in Petten has been established.
The EERA JP Wind & SETWind Annual Event aims for knowledge exchange, network opportunities and inspiration for new research topics. It is intended to focus on R&I priorities and technology development visions.
The 6th Annual Event has been organised in Amsterdam on the 24th and 25th September 2019. During the two days 112 people coming from all Europe, including researchers and industry collaborators, participated to the conference. 30 speakers distributed in 9 sessions focused on the following topics:
• R&I priorities, technology developments and visions of the wind sector
• Discussion on creation of European Lighthouse projects
• Developments in the SET-Plan calling for international R&I alignment
• Creation of multi-national R&I initiatives
• Wind Energy System Integration – Vision and R&I priorities
• European-wide initiatives for large-scale infrastructure
Interesting discussions and exchange of opinions, sharing of information, opportunities for collaboration took place during this edition of the EERA JP Wind & SETWind Annual Event. An important part of the programme was dedicated to discussions on the EERA JP Wind R&I 2019 strategy. That has been delivered as a result of several EERA JP Wind workshops in the beginning of 2019. A printed copy was distributed to all participants and discussions were held to make it soon a publication.
Another important part of the annual event was dedicated to the activities in the SETWind project, which aimed at creating multi-national projects and the development of lighthouse projects.
For the social side of the annual event, 80 guests enjoyed dinner together in Amsterdam city center, with the opportunity to continue to discuss the topics of the day at September 24th.

In connection with the Annual Event, EERA JP Wind organised its General Assembly and Steering Committee meetings.
Furthermode, on the 26th & 27th, EERA JP Wind SP6 & SP7 organized a joint workshop on Offshore Balance of Plant & Structures, Materials and Components.
